Plastics Process Engineer (Full-Time)

As a Plastics Process Engineer with Augustine Plastics, Inc. (API), you will collaborate with management; engineering, quality, and production departments; and the in-house mold shop to create stable and sustained processes for the manufacture of quality products while continuously performing process analysis and validation. Responsibilities/Duties:
- Provide engineering, sales, and marketing support for plastics manufacturing programs.
- Use statistical and data analysis techniques for process validation including Installation Qualification (IQ), Operation Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ).
- Manage process optimization by implementing and evaluating changes to existing processes designed to improve product quality, productivity, and overall equipment efficiency.
- Develop fixturing, end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), and automation.
- Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Perform mold trials, designs of experiments (DOEs), and process validations using a variety of commodity and engineering resins as required.
- Provide program management while assisting customers from product design concept to production.
- Assist and lead product development meetings with suppliers, engineers, manufacturing, and quality personnel.
- Provide tooling estimates and material recommendations.
- Communicate with the engineering department and in-house mold shop on new mold designs and current tool maintenance and optimization.
- Aid in the specification of new or replacement resins and other raw materials.
- Support continuous improvement efforts to improve quality, productivity, scrap reduction, and cost reduction.
- Maintain direct involvement with new equipment proposals, installation, qualification, and training.
- Maintain system database/software including (DELMIAWorks-(IQMS), CAD, etc.).
- Participate in risk analysis.
- Provide technical support for all shifts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Plastics processing experience (injection molding) in a manufacturing environment performing troubleshooting, process optimization, and initial startups
- Knowledge of plastic part design / injection mold design
- Design for Manufacturability (DfM)
- Knowledge of plastic materials (resins)
- Process validation including Installation Qualification (IQ), Operation Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ)
- Self-directed to work with minimal supervision to manage multiple projects
- Negative Panel Drug Test
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems
- Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multitasking, and use of timelines and time management techniques
Education/Experience:
- Minimum of 4–6 years of experience in plastics process engineering required
- Minimum of a two-year technical degree/certificate or comparable work preferred
- Associate’s degree in Plastics Engineering Technology preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology highly preferred

Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM
- Overtime as needed to meet injection molding requirements
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Somerset, PA 15501: Reliably commute, or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
