The History of ADM and API
Die and Mold Services from a Small Garage
Following many years of hands-on experience in the die and mold industry, Anthony (Tony) Augustine, Jr. decided to go into business, and in 1995, founded Augustine Die & Mold, Inc. (ADM) as a small mold shop out of his garage. Word quickly grew throughout the region about his quality craftsmanship and business quickly grew with repeat business from satisfied customers—outgrowing Mr. Augustine’s small garage.
Five years later, to support this expansion, he purchased a 31,000-square-foot building in the Somerset Industrial Park in Somerset, Pennsylvania. To keep up with the latest technologies, he continued to invest in state-of-the-art equipment, including precision CNC mills and lathes, EDM workstations, and a high-pressure waterjet.
To demonstrate his commitment to quality, continuous improvement, on-time delivery, and ultimately customer satisfaction, he pursued and obtained ISO 9001 and AS9100 certification.
Adding Injection Molding Services
ADM’s continued growth increased the need for greater access to plastic injection molding machines to sample molds. In 2008, with the acquisition of a neighboring plastic injection molding division, Mr. Augustine founded Augustine Plastics, Inc. (API). With this established molding capability and highly experienced workforce, API was able to quickly assist ADM, and both companies quickly grew into additional industry markets.
Combining Operations in 221,000-Square-Foot Manufacturing Facility
With these complementary businesses in hand, Mr. Augustine recognized the value of having ADM and API under one roof, and in 2010, he purchased a 221,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in the Somerset Industrial Park. The companies then relocated together with plenty of room for expansion with additional state-of-the-art equipment, which positioned them to better serve a wide array of industries.
ADM and API Provide Distinct and Integrated Services
Today, with ADM and API providing full-service contract manufacturing services including precision machining, tool & mold design/build/repair/maintenance, waterjet cutting, metal injection molding, and plastic injection molding under one roof, the companies offer what very few competitors can — a true one-stop shop for manufactured parts from concept to completion, proudly made in the USA.
ADM and API provide a full spectrum of both distinct and integrated services for the core markets of Aerospace & Defense, Energy, Medical, and Water & Wastewater Treatment, and more, with customers ranging from the U.S. Government, small privately owned companies, and Fortune 500 and Fortune Global 500 companies.
