Quality Manager/Quality Engineer (Full-Time)

$65,000–$85,000 DOE

As a Quality Manager/Quality Engineer with Augustine Die & Mold, Inc. (ADM) and Augustine Plastics, Inc. (API), you will assist in maintaining the Companies’ Quality Management System (QMS) to meet ISO 9001:2015, AS9100D, and other regulatory requirements. Monitor compliance with the QMS. Provide input and guidance to the Companies’ manufacturing and engineering processes while ensuring the proper use of tools, materials, and procedures in the quality inspection of CNC-machined parts and plastic injection molded parts. Work with the quality assurance team to create and maintain standards for manufactured products.  ADM/API offers a Comprehensive Benefits Package.


Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Assist in the development and ongoing maintenance of the Quality Management System.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and apply scientific methods, statistics, and problem-solving techniques to improve and sustain quality and process effectiveness in the manufacture of CNC-machined parts and plastic injection molded parts.
  • Create and maintain required manufacturing process documentation such as process flow charts, work instructions, equipment specifications, and related maintenance service requirements, as well as safety procedures.
  • Determine quality metrics for manufacturing procedures and create effective reports and tools to monitor product quality and process compliance.
  • Build technical expertise on new technologies and incorporate them into the Companies’ overall quality program.
  • Develop and implement related quality control training programs for the Companies’ personnel.
  • Partner with engineering, sales, and operations to assist customers regarding quality requirements.
  • Prepare and/or review validation protocols/reports, ensuring compliance and adherence to the design, customer, and internal quality requirements as applicable.
  • Lead training of cross-functional teams involved in validation.
  • Work with internal teams to increase customer satisfaction by improving the quality of the products.
  • Drive process initiatives and analyze product performance to identify trends as necessary.
  • Lead and assist in product inspections, sampling plans, and test acceptance criteria, and resolve nonconformances.
  • Recommend, facilitate, participate in and/or drive continuous improvement initiatives, such as product return process, overall process simplification, visual management, problem-solving, 5S, etc., towards increasing productivity, improving production quality, and decreasing cost.
  • Guide the Companies in Corrective Action activities.
  • Conduct and participate in deviation investigations to identify root causes and define corrective/preventative actions.
  • Serve as liaison between customers, sales, and operations to resolve quality issues, ensuring that business results have improved and been sustained to meet customer expectations.
  • Assist the Quality Technicians and Administration in the preparation of Quality Records, Certificates of Conformance (COCs), and other documentation required by the customer.
  • Attend/facilitate weekly QMS Meetings.
  • Attend weekly Management Review Meetings.
  • Participate in ISO 9001:2015 / AS9100D Internal Audits
  • Meet with customers and vendors periodically and handle Customer Complaints and Inquiries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated analytical capabilities towards problem-analysis and problem-resolution skills as well as strong familiarity with quality control tools and processes.
  • A willingness to learn, take on responsibilities and challenges by being self-motivated, exhibit a “can-do” and “lead-by-example” attitude, and work both within a team as well as independently.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with high internal/external customer enthusiasm combined with the ability to interact with and provide guidance to colleagues at all levels.
  • Direct Continuous Improvement knowledge and experience from training and project participation with a mind-set of challenging the status quo towards re-engineering processes, practices, and systems.
  • High attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks, results, and deadlines; prioritization and goal-setting; and time-management.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Knowledgeable in reading and interpreting blueprints and customer specifications.
  • Working knowledge of Standard Measurement Instruments and Equipment including, but not limited to, CNC coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), image dimension measurement systems; profilometers; custom-measuring fixtures, tools, and systems; pins, plugs, micrometers, and calipers; linear height and depth gauges; go/no-go gauges; and optical comparators.


Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering, or other technically related disciplines preferred.
  • Certified Quality Engineer Certification (ASQ) preferred.
  • Lead Auditor Certification (ASQ) preferred.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of related experience leading or employment in QMS management and implementation required.
  • Experience in Part Production Approval Process (PPAP) preparation for customer review and approval highly desired.
