Manufacturing Engineering Intern
$18–$19 Per Hour
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern with Augustine Die & Mold, Inc. (ADM) and Augustine Plastics, Inc. (API), you will assist in the development and maintenance of manufacturing systems and perform engineering duties in the planning, designing, manufacturing, and maintenance of tools, molds, and other mechanically functioning equipment.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Work under the supervision and direction of the Operations Managers of Augustine Die & Mold and Augustine Plastics.
- Collaborate with Engineering Staff on daily activities.
- Assist in the design of injection molds and support mold shop associates.
- Observe the collaboration with customers and vendors on a daily basis regarding quoting (product and tooling), new product development (concept to production), packaging, purchasing, quality, troubleshooting, and logistics and assist as needed.
- Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
- Estimate technical or resource requirements for development of production projects.
- Evaluate designs or specifications to ensure quality.
- Assist production floor with troubleshooting needs and quality inspections.
- Assist in the research and development of new manufacturing processes and automation opportunities.
- Assist in the research and analysis of customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, or other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
- Recommend and assist in the design of technical design or process changes to improve efficiency, quality, or performance as necessary.
- Maintain engineering, production, and quality databases and software.
- Participate in management, quality, and production meetings.
- Comply with and be bound by the safety and workplace rules and other rules, regulations, and policies of the companies.
- Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance (within 30 miles) of the Somerset Industrial Park during internship and for the continuation of internship during the summer(s) and in between semesters as well as a possible full-time offer upon graduation.
- An offer of full-time employment is not guaranteed and will be contingent upon the needs of the Company(s) and subject to the Intern’s performance, attendance, and overall ability with respect to duties and responsibilities as reported by supervisors and peers.

Preferred Electives:
- Engineering Electives/ME Technical Electives: ME Design, Drafting & CAD
- Dynamic System Electives: Vehicle Dynamics and Simulation & Modeling in ME Design
- ME Technical Elective: Finite Element Methods
Education/Experience:
- Must be a Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering student in the equivalent of the junior or senior year.
Schedule:
- Workdays and hours to be determined based on class schedule.
- Standard workdays are Monday through Friday.
- Standard work hours are 6:00 AM through 4:00 PM.
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Somerset, PA 15501: Reliably commute during internship, and reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work if offered a full-time position after graduation.
